Community Partnerships Project
The Scottish Parliament’s Community Partnerships Project is a ground breaking initiative to give a voice to people typically under-represented in political life.
The project, developed by the Scottish Parliament’s Education and Community Partnerships Team, works with disability rights organisations, difficult-to-reach young people, and people from black and ethnic minority backgrounds to help them get involved with and influence the activities of the Parliament.
The aim of the project is to build confidence on the part of external organisations by:
• Strengthening their understanding and awareness of the Parliament, its role and its processes
• Enhancing their ability to take positive action through parliamentary processes.
• Facilitating meaningful engagement by each partner organisation in the parliamentary process
Importantly, the project is driven by the partner organisations themselves. Partners bring their energy, vision and commitment to the project, and will ensure that their specific campaign and awareness needs are considered within the parliamentary engagement process.
The organisations taking part in this, the second phase of the Community Partnerships Project, are:
• South Ayrshire Youth Forum
• Mid Argyll Youth Project
• Ownership Options in Scotland.

The Scottish Government introduced new legislation in 2009 which required local authorities to produce a ” Scheme Of Assistance” to help owner occupiers and private renters to find out more about their housing options, e.g. adaptations. Our volunteers have been looking at the Schemes of Assistance in every local authority in Scotland. They carried out research online and by telephone to find out how easy it is for disabled people to get advice and information on housing issues. to find out how you local authority was rated, please click on the following link:
