As well as being eligible for the correct benefits, in order to claim ISMI payments your client will need to prove that:
The most straightforward route to claiming ISMI payments is if your client needs to take out a loan or increase a loan to buy a house that is more suited to the needs of a disabled person than their current home.
The disabled person can be the claimant or a member of their household. They can be unsuitably housed for a number of reasons, such as lack of support locally or need to live independently and not just physical access problems.
Note: General unhappiness with housing not related to disability, such as neighbour nuisance or dissatisfaction with the area in which someone lives, is not sufficient basis for a claim.
